The Family Program offers a safe and comfortable group setting where individuals may ask questions and share feelings. It is based on a successful model called Community Reinforcement Approach or CRA.
The program helps participants gain knowledge, skills, and tools to answer the following questions:
- What is substance abuse and how does it affect someone’s thinking and behavior?
- How does substance abuse or dependence affect the body and the brain?
- How can substance abuse affect families and loved ones?
- What can family members do to take care of themselves when their loved one is in recovery?
- How can family members respond to a loved one coming out of treatment in a helpful way?
- How can family members improve their communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills?
- What resources are available to family members who wish to help a loved one and themselves following a treatment episode?
The final meeting brings family members and their loved one together to share what they have learned and to celebrate each person’s journey of growth and self-discovery.
