“I was suffering from deep, long-time depression and loneliness. I was introduced to a guy who showed me attention but was a crack addict. I started using with him and was arrested for possession. I asked for drug court and was accepted. I worried that drug court wouldn’t be able to help me.
They put me into a treatment facility where I started learning tools to help me stay clean. They gave my life structure and hope. I had a love for myself that I never had before. I felt confidence in myself, too, and also a respect for myself.”
